Applicants from all over the European Union sent submissions to earn a place in the week-long Tech Rally 2017 – VR NOW CON EDITION accelerator in Berlin. The 14 pioneering startups selected span Health, Entertainment, Gaming, Education, AI, Communications, and Real Estate industries – illustrating the wide range of next generation AR / VR emerging. The startup’s week in Berlin will be a week to develop their business, network and finish by participating in a pitch contest as part of the conference programming at MEDIA CONVENTION, part of re:publica.
We are pleased to announce the 14 VR Startups selected for the 2017 Edition of Tech Rally:
1. MindBox (Slovakia)
Virtual therapy – in virtuo exposure – expose patients to source of phobias in virtual reality. MindBox is a virtual therapy platform using virtual reality to simulate stress situation and treat and heal phobias, anxiety disorders and PTSD. The system has different levels simulating levels of fear to gradually and repeatedly expose patients.
2. Chernobyl VR Project – a “THE FARM 51 GROUP SA” project (Poland)
Chernobyl VR Project is a unique project which combines video games with educational and movie narrative software. It is the very first virtual tour around the Chernobyl and Pripyat area, compatible with multiple VR headsets, such as Oculus and PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, or the mobile Samsung Gear VR solution.
3. Honeypot Espionage – a “Pocket Sized Hands” project (United Kingdom)
Honeypot Espionage is an online VR multiplayer shooter, focused on stealth combat, in which you are put against other Spies in a combat arena. The last man standing wins. As a Spy, you are completely invisible, but you will begin to materialize if you move, fire a weapon or set a trap. If you don’t want killed, stay still.
4. Olorama Technology (Spain)
Olorama has developed the only technology for the efficient incorporation of scents into audiovisual experiences… Therefore Olorama allows VR developers converting a normal experience into a premium one at a lower cost and dazzle customers with a unique sensation: that of smells synchronized with what is happening during their experience.
5. Neos Multiverse Engine for VR Education – a “Solirax” project (Czech Republic)
Neos is a multiverse engine that will be able to scale great VR education on all the schools around the globe.
Students sit down with specially adapted VR headsets (Oculus Rift DK2s) that will drop them into a fascinating, immersive, educational experience that allowes them to interact naturally using natural hand gestures.
6. Fader – a “Vragments” project (Germany)
Fader is a VR tool for users to create and publish VR stories. Add multiple layers of information to your 360 spheres, design scenes and tell your story. Easy, fast and web based!
7. Artomatix (Ireland)
Artomatix uses patented algorithms, leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities, to streamline the 3D artwork creation process, while also improving the average 3D asset quality.
Artomatix achieves this by using algorithms in its cloud-based service to convert a digital texture into a physically based material (PBR) in a fast, reliable and high quality manner.
8. Sense Glove – an “Adjuvo” project (Netherlands)
The Sense Glove is the most accurate wearable hand motion tracking system that translates your hands into virtual reality and makes you feel the virtual objects. This is done by delivering active force feedback at the moment of grasping or touching the object in VR. This in combination with the exo-skeletal structure of the glove enables very realistic feel touch in VR.
9. reVeRies Pro – a “LucidWeb” project (France)
reVeRies Pro will enable the publisher to easily manage and distribute its content across platforms and devices via the web, while providing the viewer the tools to access the content in the most convenient and immersive way. reVeRies Pro quickly turns a VR library into an easy accessible consumer application on the web.
10. Be There – an “Oniride” project (Italy)
BeThere is a cross-compatible virtual / mixed reality conferencing and collaborative production platform that offers 3 levels of service:
– videoconferencing in VR
– real-time collaborative production based on major office and creative suites (e.g. MS, Adobe)
– immersive co-presence and collaborative production, leveraging custom-made VR installations
11. Smart2VR (Netherlands)
Smart2VR is a CMS platform to publish and distribute Virtual Reality content in your own branded VR app. The CMS gives you the option of personalising your VR app easily and quickly, e.g. by adding your own logo, colour scheme and contact information. You can also upload your own Virtual Reality content – such as 360° pictures, 360° videos and visual files – and instantly publish them to mobile & tablet (IOS/ANDROID/Samsung Gear VR) and Web.
12. Kobold VR- an “Another World VR” project (Germany)
Kobold is a work of creative fiction that blurs the line between cinema and VR gaming. First, you are invited to watch a short horror film and then you are welcome to enter its universe and take off from where the film ends. The player is going to enter a mansion, which exists in real life, and has to go on adrenalin rushing missions while being hunted by a terrifying creature from Germanic, pagan mythology.
13. Buzludzha VR (United Kingdom)
Buzludzha VR is an unguided exploration experience to get to know the Buzludzha Monument and also a small history lesson about the structure, all presented inside of a redesigned, conceptual version of the building, to show how it could look like if it was ever restored. The Buzludzha Monument is a structure built on top of a Buzludzha mountain peak in the Central Balkan Mountains by Bulgarian communist regime in 1981. It was used as the headquarters of the Bulgarian communist party in 1980s until Bulgaria ceased to be a communist state in 1989. Since then, the Monument was abandoned and with no further maintenance, the building quickly began to deteriorate and suffer from acts of vandalism.
14. GrandPano (Slovakia)
GrandPano creates a smart Virtual Reality application for – real estate developers and architects. This solution will take you inside unbuild properties and make you feel you are really there.
